Jeep Safari in Jim Corbett National Park
A morning or an afternoon in the park, with a jeep, a permit and a naturalist guide. The Homestead books all three for your date and charges what they cost.

A farm with the park for a neighbour.
The Homestead is a family farm of 170 acres near Jim Corbett National Park, farmed by the Puri family since 1952. The park is close by, and its animals lived here long before the house did; now and then, elephants still walk up the road to the farm.
To go into the reserve, ask The Homestead for a jeep safari during your stay, and it takes care of the booking.
How the safari works.
You choose the morning or the afternoon. The Homestead books the zone for your date, with a jeep, a permit and a naturalist guide, and charges you what they cost.
Up to six guests go in one jeep, and each guest needs a government ID.
Permits open weeks ahead and sell out in season, so send your dates as early as you can.

Jim Corbett safari cost and charges, 2026–27.
A safari costs three things: the forest department's permit for the jeep, which is lower for Indian nationals than for foreign nationals; the jeep with its driver; and the naturalist guide, who goes with every jeep. The fees differ by zone and the department revises them, so The Homestead quotes the day's amount when you send your dates, rather than printing a figure that would be wrong within the season.
The Homestead adds nothing to any of the three. A jeep is priced as a jeep, so six guests share what two would pay.
What the amount is made of
- The permit
- Per jeep, per zone, per slot. Lower for Indian nationals.
- The jeep and driver
- Per jeep, up to six guests.
- The naturalist guide
- Per jeep. Goes with every jeep.
Which zone? Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, Garjiya and more.
The Homestead books the zones around Ramnagar: Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Garjiya, Durgadevi and Sitabani. They differ in the forest and the ground, not in the odds of a tiger, which no zone can promise. If it is your first safari, let the house choose: the zone with a permit left for your date is the one you are going to.
Dhikala, the zone most people have heard of, is a different plan: a day trip by the forest department's canter bus from Ramnagar, or a night inside the park at the forest rest houses, where the jeep safaris are for the guests staying there. Ask The Homestead when you send your dates.
When each zone is open
- Bijrani, Garjiya, Durgadevi
- Mid-October to mid-June
- Jhirna, Dhela, Sitabani
- All year, through the monsoon
- Dhikala
- By canter from Ramnagar, or a night inside the park

Jeep Safari: short answers.
How much does a Jim Corbett jeep safari cost through The Homestead?
Only what the jeep, the permit and the naturalist guide cost: The Homestead adds nothing on top. Ask for the amount when you send your dates.
What are the Jim Corbett safari timings?
Morning drives run 6 to 9 am in winter and 5:30 to 8:30 am in summer. Afternoon drives run 2 to 5 pm in winter and 3 to 6 pm in summer.
Which safari zones can The Homestead book?
Zones such as Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Garjiya, Durgadevi and Sitabani: The Homestead books one of them for your date. Most close from mid-June to mid-October, though Jhirna, Dhela and Sitabani stay open.
How far ahead should I book a safari?
Book as soon as you know your dates. Permits are released weeks before the day and run out in season, and The Homestead needs a government ID for every guest.
Which safari zone is closest, and can you book Dhikala?
The farm is six kilometres from the park, and the gates are spread around the reserve, so the drive depends on the zone you are booked into. Dhikala is a day trip by canter from Ramnagar or a night inside the park at the forest rest houses; ask The Homestead when you send your dates.
