A Seat at The Homestead's Table
Dinner is North Indian home cooking on a set menu, at the long table at Glenfern or under the Baradari. The à la carte and the café list run wider.
Three meals, at the table.
Meals here are at set hours and at the table, at Glenfern, the restaurant, or under the Baradari. Breakfast is slow, and dinner is the set menu, North Indian home cooking.
Tea and light things come to you anywhere on the farm. The meals themselves are at the table, which is the point of them.
- Breakfast8:30 to 10:30A cold table, and a hot plate that changes with the day.

Beyond the set menu.
The à la carte runs wider than the house's own cooking, and the café list runs through the day. It is what the children ask for, and most of the adults. The prices are in the two menus, before GST.
- The à la carte
- Soups and salads, the Indian mains, biryanis, kebabs from the tandoor, Chinese and Continental plates.
- The café list
- Through the day: tea, coffee, shakes, lassi and fresh juice; Maggi, pav bhaji, sandwiches, pasta and pizza; waffles and pancakes with honey.
- Khow Suey night
- A Burmese coconut noodle bowl with its toppings, for six or more.
- Live barbecue
- Ninety minutes at the grill, vegetarian or not, for ten or more.
After dark, under the Baradari.
Dinner is from eight, at Glenfern or under the Baradari, the open pavilion where the evenings gather. Add a candlelight dinner at a table of your own under the jamun tree, an evening round the bonfire, or a live barbecue for a bigger party.
A gathering or an offsite takes the whole farm and one long table, with breakfast, lunch and dinner at set hours.

Meals at The Homestead: short answers.
Are meals included?
That depends on the room and the plan you choose when you book: some rates are room only, others come with breakfast, half board or all meals, and the booking engine shows what each includes. The two packages, The Forest Edge and The Home Ground, include all meals. Lunch on its own is à la carte, or a set menu for six or more.
When are meals served?
Breakfast 8:30 to 10:30, lunch 1:00 to 3:00 and dinner 8:00 to 10:00, at Glenfern, the restaurant, or under the Baradari. The café list runs through the day.
Is the food only Indian?
The set menus are North Indian home cooking. The à la carte runs wider (Continental, Chinese, a Burmese Khow Suey night) and Glenfern, the restaurant, does pizza, pasta, waffles and burgers for anyone under twelve or over twelve. Lunch is à la carte or a set menu for six or more.
Can the kitchen cook for a vegetarian table, or round an allergy?
Yes. Tell The Homestead when you book, and again at the table. The set menu is cooked fresh each day, so the kitchen plans round what it is told.
Is there room service?
Tea and light things, anywhere on the farm. Meals are at the table. The Homestead makes exceptions for small children, anyone unwell, and the two cottages when a dog would otherwise be left alone at dinner.
Can my dog come to meals?
No. Dogs stay out of Glenfern, the restaurant, and the Baradari at meal times. Tea and light things can be brought to the cottage.
Tell The Homestead before you come.
A vegetarian table, an allergy, a child who eats at six, a birthday cake. Send a message with your dates and the kitchen plans round it. Or use the contact page.
